About

SUSANNE STORM is a graduate of The Danish National School of Performing Arts. Alongside her acting career, she has worked as an artist, creating a unique expression in concrete with her distinctive vessels and reliefs. Her works are found in homes around the world — in NYC, London, Stockholm, and Copenhagen — and can be explored in several restaurants and showrooms in Copenhagen.
BALANCING ART AND DESIGN, THE VESSELS AND RELIEFS MERGE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, MATERIAL KNOWLEDGE, AND FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE .
Working with a material traditionally associated with weight, Susanne Storm destabilizes this assumption. By sculpting in concrete, she has only a brief period in which to shape the work. She must intervene at a precise moment during the setting process, when it is still malleable. This narrow window demands quick and decisive action. The intensity of this creation process extends to her sculptural vessels and reliefs. The resulting forms appear almost alive, retaining the movement that generated them—dense volumes that convey an unexpected lightness. Cracks, layers, and surface marks are not hidden; they remain as traces of transformation. The choice of color feels effortless, allowing the works to appear beautiful both together and individually, perhaps especially in contrast to modern, strict design.
Concrete vessels and reliefs pushing the boundaries of the material’s aesthetic potential.
Made from a mixture of lime cement and sand, colored with natural, lightfast pigments and reinforced with glass fibres.
The vessels and reliefs are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The work aims to emphasize the sculptural presence and elemental beauty of the raw material and its textures.
Concrete is an ancient and remarkably durable material—one that hardens and becomes stronger over time. Its endurance, combined with the fact that it gains strength without requiring high-temperature firing, makes it particularly well suited to these design objects. The resulting forms of the vessels and wall reliefs preserve the movement that generated them, while their dense volume conveys an unexpected sense of lightness..
